A Merry Christmas from the Vandemonian Homesteader

Hello and welcome back to the Vandemonian Homesteader. I hope that you and your families are doing well.

An image of the shed at night, with warm lighting coming from inside as the exterior is draped in bright Christmas lights. overhead is a clear starry night.

Given that the end of the year is rapidly approaching, I should take a brief moment to write a quick thank-you to all the readers who have happened across my blog, despite the erratic posting schedule I seem to have adopted over the past year. I have still been working in the background on the blog, and I have been excited to see the visitor numbers increasing.

At times, I feel like my posts are little more than the weird, erratic ramblings of some nutter sitting in the bush, but seeing so many people from all over the world checking in on what I do is fantastic.

So to everybody, even those who arrived here by mistake, and especially those who have subscribed, I say thank you, thank you for making 2025 a fantastic year. I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed my posts as I’ve covered my journey so far.

Also, I would be remiss if I did not wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, or, if you prefer, a Happy holidays. Hopefully, you and your loved ones can take a break and spend some quality time together during this holiday period.

For now, 2026 looks like an excellent year for the homestead and my goals. Not only will I be moving out there to live permanently, but I will also be setting it up properly so I can take advantage of the opportunity to be more self-sufficient, both with my food and my career.

I have a lot planned: a greenhouse, improving the soil, constructing a few outbuildings, food preservation, and, as I mentioned before, self-employment, which will be my main goal for the year. I am currently writing a post that will be up early January and will cover in detail my goals for 2026, detailing how I decided on them, and how I track them. I want to share my goals for the next year, as I believe it will help keep me accountable, and also share with you some methods that work or don’t, so you can take and use what you like to help yourself succeed.

So join me, won’t you?

In all honesty, though, this year has been great. As much as I wished I could, I posted more. I have to remind myself that I have put a ridiculous amount of work on my plate, and the more I spread myself out trying to do it all, the longer everything takes. Getting tired of everything dragging on, I eventually bit the bullet and decided to focus on completing the larger jobs, freeing up my time for other projects.

And I mean what I say, thanks to all who have been checking in, it means the world to me. So, with that said, stay tuned for next year. Have a happy and safe holidays, and I will see you all in the new year.
